Project Background:

An airport is an aerodrome or airdrome (which is a location from which aircraft
operations take place, regardless of whether they involve air cargo, passengers or neither) with extended
facilities, mostly for commercial air transport. An airport is also a landing area used regularly
by aircraft for receiving or discharging passengers or cargo.
It comprises of an aerially accessible open space including at least one operationally
active surface such as a runway for a plane to takeoff or a helipad,
and often includes adjacent utility buildings such as control towers, hangars and terminals.
Larger airports may have airport aprons, taxiway bridges, air traffic control centres, passenger facilities
such as restaurants and lounges, and emergency services.

Approvals:

The Port Authority of NY and NJ, which oversees the JFK airport,
embarked on an extensive and rigorous process with the airports existing six terminal operators-
each of which operates under a long-term lease agreement-
seeking proposals from each of them to modernize, expand and/or replace their facilities.
These proposals were in turn evaluated by a formal comparative analysis team, comprised of seasoned experts,
against a set of established criteria to determine the best combination of developments
that would achieve the core master plan objectives, as well as fully leverage the Port Authority's
previously approved $1 billion capital plan commitment.
The plans for the 2 terminals announced today will now be submitted to the Port Authority's Board of Commissioners.
Once lease terms are finalized, the lease will be subject to final Board approval.

Scope (in-Scope, out of Scope, Deferred Scope):

in-Scope: 1) Design of the airport terminal,
    2) Hundreds of workers have performed ground-stabilizing work,
placing concrete and erected steel.

out of Scope: A video overview of the design of the airport terminal.

Deferred Scope: The design of the airport project was delayed due to economic downturn
and political uncertainty.

Project Assumptions:
(If there is no risk involved, then it is not an assumptions)

1) During the rainy season, you may get cheap daily workers to build an airport.
2) You will be provided with all resources required by you to build an airport.

Project Constraints:
(If constraints changes, there is most likely impact on the other constraints)

1) You must finish 25% of the airport project work within 30 days.
2) You must work within the available resources when building an airport.

Downstream Processes/Systems:

Airport waste management includes the vacuum toilet waste or wastewater
from airplane lavatories that must be pumped out after each flight and disposed of.
This waste is constantly subject to a broad variety of non-disposable items
that will ultimately clog downstream sewer lines, pumps and processes.
Airports around the world that are looking for a clean and efficient method for
airplane blue water disposal utilize JWC's Airport Receiving Station.
The airport receiving station allows lavatory waste trucks to quickly dump their loads
into an inlet pipe that leads to a Muffin Monster grinder. The grinder handles
all the plastics, textiles, wipes and other solids that may be in the Vacuum toilet or blue water waste.
Ground material is then flushed into the local sewer system without clogging any pipes, pumps or valves.

Requirements Template (Security Requirement):
a) Requirement #: 5
b) Requirement Rationale: Airport security refers to the techniques and methods used in an attempt to protect passengers, staff, aircraft, and
airport property from accidental/ malicious harm, crime, and other threats. Large numbers of people pass through airports everyday.
This presents potential targets for terrorism and other forms of crime because of the number of people located in one place.
The high concentration of people on large airlines increase the potentially high death rate with attacks on aircraft
and the ability to use a hijacked airplane as a lethal weapon which may provide an alluring target for terrorism
(such as during the September 11 attacks).

c) Requirements Dependency:

Task Name Dependent On
1) The strength of any security the airport's overall security plan
mechanism is

2) Emergency lightning in the an alternate power source
airport is limited to
periods of power
failure or other
emergencies and is

e) Requirement Detail:

Airport security requirements, and the time it takes to deal with it, can vary widely.
In general, travelers should contact their airline to find out
how early they should arrive at the airport. Regardless of your airline or itinerary,
you will need to go through airport security before you can go to your departure gate.
The airport security screening process, while annoying and time-consuming, does serve a purpose.
If you rush through the screening process, you may forget to take your personal items or belongings with you.
So pay attention to your surroundings. You could be a theft target,
as pickpockets are known to be around airport security screening areas.
Planning ahead for your security screening will help minimize problems and speed up the screening process.
